Haxtun Corn Festival

September 25 & 26, 2010



The Haxtun Corn Festival or "Cornfest" as it is known by the locals is held the last weekend in September, which falls this year on Sept. 25th and 26th.

Events of the day include a 5K Walk or Run, one of the best parades in the area, kiddie parade, kiddie races, street games, antique tractor pull, quilt show, crop and garden show, baking contest, hot dog eating contest, cake decorating contest, demolition derby, dance, Little Mr. & Miss Haxtun Corn Festival, flower show, golf tournament, Fireman’s pancake breakfast, FFA auction, kiddie rides, venders and food booths. Old-Fashioned Country Christmas

Haxtun opens the Christmas season with an old-fashioned country theme. The Haxtun Volunteer Firemen escort Santa to town on their antique fire truck. The firemen host his visit at the fire hall, housed in a new building this year and help hand out treats for young and young at heart. The evening includes a soup supper and shopping with local merchants or individuals who bring there wares to town for the night. Dickens Carolers, dressed in costumes of the time, raise their voices into the crisp winter air. The event ends with a drawing for prizes donated by the Haxtun Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.





Old-Fashioned Saturday Night

July 17, 2010



This marks the 22nd annual Old-Fashioned Saturday Night in Haxtun. The event includes a car/pickup/motorcycle show and contest, with registration 3:30-5 p.m. on Haxtun's main street.

Town-wide yard sales open the event at 8 a.m., lasting until noon. A poker run sponsored by the Haxtun Volunteer Firemen begins at 10 a.m.

The evening includes a HVFD-sponsored hog roast, bingo, pie contest, kiddie carnival, model contest, look-a-like contest, burnout contest and DJ music.

Awards, presented at 7 p.m., go to the best entry in antique, vintage, classic, muscle, street rod, pickup/truck, work in progress and motorcycles (custom and original).
